Raphael’s Madonna in Empress Marie’s Cabinet – Part 2

Yesterday I read an article on Raphael’s Madonna, published this month, on the State Hermitage’s Facebook site (https://www.facebook.com/state.hermitage/?fref=nf)

New article in the journal "Amateur"! This time the topic: The Hermitage … dedicated to Raphael’s  Madonna Conestabile and her arrival in St. Petersburg. Link to article:  http://bit.ly/2ayVzpA.

I had posted my research on the Raphael in one of my first blog posts.

It had been amazing when I discovered the links between the painting, photograph and archival documents and to have finally shared it.

Now more people, knowing its history, will appreciate seeing Empress Marie’s Cabinet in the Winter Palace. The room survived and has been excellently restored by the Hermitage (photo below).
